Long ivory satin stitches laid in broad horizontal bands across a matte black linen ground. The bands overlap and break rather than line up, which keeps the eye moving along the panel instead of settling in the middle.
The thread is left with visible floats, so it catches light where the stitches lie flat and goes dull where they turn. Against the black ground the contrast is strong enough to read across a room.
