Ordering cloth by the metre raises questions that ordering a finished thing does not. These are the ones we are actually asked.
Ordering
How is fabric measured and cut?
By the linear metre, across the full width of the cloth. One metre of Verge Sheer is a piece 100 cm long and 300 cm wide. An order for four metres arrives as one continuous four-metre length, not four separate metres.
Can I have a cutting first?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Email info@dorsyniq.com with the cloth and colourway. Screens misrepresent colour badly, and two of ours are much stronger in the hand than they look on a page.
How much do I need?
For curtains, measure the track width, multiply by 2.5 for a full gather, and divide by the cloth width to get the number of drops. Multiply drops by the finished length plus 30 cm for hems and heading. For upholstery, ask your upholsterer; every frame is different and a guess from us would waste your money.
Will two separate orders match?
Not necessarily. Dye lots vary, and a cut taken six months apart can be visibly different. Order the whole quantity for a job in one go, and add ten per cent.
The cloth
Is the colour on screen accurate?
Close, but never exact. Every screen renders differently and every room lights differently. Deep colours in particular photograph lighter than they look on a wall.
Which of these can I use for upholstery?
Tallow Linen, Harrow Velvet, Kiln Natte, Cinder Chenille and Moleskin Chenille. Verge Sheer and Vellum Voile are curtain cloths only and will not survive a seat.
Which are flame retardant?
Kiln Natte and Cinder Chenille, both to BS 5852 Crib 5 and EN 1021 parts 1 and 2. We will send certificates on request. Nothing else in the range carries a rating.
Is there a pattern repeat?
None of the by-the-metre cloths has a repeat, which makes them economical to cut. Two have a direction: Harrow Velvet and Moleskin Chenille both have a nap and must be cut all one way.
Panels
Do panels come framed?
No. Each is hemmed on four sides with a concealed sleeve at the back for a rod or batten, so it hangs flat against the wall. Any framer can stretch one if you prefer that.
Will mine look exactly like the photograph?
It will be the same design in the same colours, worked on the same ground. Stitch and motif placement shifts between panels because they are worked on a frame rather than printed. If you need an exact match to the image, this is the wrong product.

What does shipping cost?

Can I return cut fabric?
Cut lengths are made to your order and cannot be returned unless they are faulty or we sent the wrong thing. That is why we push cuttings so hard. Panels can be returned within 30 days unused. See the Return and Refund Policy.
Something arrived damaged.
Photograph the outer packaging before you unwrap any further and email us within seven days. We replace it.

How do I reach a person?
Email info@dorsyniq.com. It is the only channel we monitor and it reaches the people who chose the cloth. We answer within one business day, Monday to Friday, Pacific time.
