Harrow Velvet

A dense short-pile velvet with a soft watered sheen: where the nap lies one way the cloth reads light, where it turns it goes deep and almost black. The effect is strongest on a curved surface, so it flatters a rolled arm or a generous curtain heading and does very little on a flat cushion.

Pile fabric has a direction. Cut every piece the same way up or the panels will not match, and expect the cloth to look different from the two ends of a room. That is the material behaving normally, not a fault.
